Dr. David F. Wilborn is an internationally acclaimed composer, trombonist, and conductor. He teaches low brass studio at Texas A&M University in College Station. Wilborn has presented clinics and workshops in universities and at national/international music festivals. He has performed tenor and bass trombone in the Austin Symphony, Amarillo Symphony, Temple Symphony, Amarillo Opera, Lone Star Ballet, and the Eastman Wind Ensemble. As a trombone soloist, he has been accompanied by the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra, Little Rock Wind Symphony, and the Texas A&M University Wind Symphony. As a soloist, he has performed in Carnegie Hall, Lila B. Cockrell Theater, St. Patrick’s Cathedral of Dublin, Ulster Hall in Belfast, N. Ireland and several other American concert halls.
Wilborn is an award-winning composer whose compositions are performed globally in concert venues in Europe, South Asia, Australia, South America, and the United States. His music is performed at major music festivals including: The National Flute Association, International Trumpet Guild, International Trombone Festival, International Women’s Brass Conference, Ravina Festival, Gateways Music Festival, American Trombone Workshop, and many others. Music critic Rorianne Schrade of the New York Concert Review praised his music writing for its “freshness and excitement.” His music has been recorded on major compact disc labels such as Navona, Centaur, Albany, Soundset, Mark Masters, and Post Haus.
