Jace Byrd is tenor trombonist from Austin, Texas, where he currently studies at the University of Texas at Austin with Dr. Nathaniel Brickens. As an emerging orchestral musician, he’s performed with the Houston, Austin, Fort Worth Symphonies, and also the San Antonio Philharmonic.
At age 19, Jace was named a finalist for the United States Navy Ceremonial Band in 2025. Soon after, he was the first runner-up for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra’s second trombone audition. An avid competitor he’s been a finalist in the SPHINX Orchestral Excerpt Competition and the American Trombone Workshop Division II Solo Competition.
Eager to learn, Jace is an alumni of the Brevard Music Center Orchestral Institute where he studied with Professors David Jackson of the University of Michigan and Scott Hartman of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
Outside of music, Jace loves to play basketball and pickleball. He’s also a huge college football fan.
