Dr. Anastasi Fafalios has played Edwards Bass Trombones since 1998. During this time, he has used these exquisite instruments in many musical settings including classical, commercial, and in the field of music education.
Originally from Monessen, Pennsylvania, Dr. Fafalios earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Slippery Rock University, a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Louisville, and most recently became a Doctor of Musical Arts with minors in Music Education and Wind Conducting from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). His teachers include Timothy Anderson, George Flynn, Patrick Myers, Peter Norton, Dr. Brett Shuster, and Charles Vernon.
Dr. Fafalios was a teacher for thirteen years in the Jefferson County Public Schools located in Louisville, Kentucky where he taught high school band, beginning band, and elementary general music. Dr. Fafalios is currently on the faculty at Bellarmine University and has taught at CCM and the University of Louisville Community Music Program. As a private trombone instructor, students of Dr. Fafalios have matriculated as music majors at the following universities: Louisville, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee, Lynn, Indiana, and Yale.
As a performer, Dr. Fafalios has worked with numerous professional ensembles including the Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Pops, Louisville Ballet, Louisville Masters Chorale, Louisville Chamber Winds, Orchestra Kentucky, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, Cincinnati Opera, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in orchestra pits for numerous touring musicals and with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Don Krekel Jazz Orchestra, Louisville Jazz Society Big Band, Flying Circus Big Band, Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, and The Blue Wisp Big Band. Dr. Fafalios has shared the stage with performers such as Slide Hampton, Bill Watrous, Bob McChesney, Brett Shuster, Dave Liebman, Stephen Mead, Jim Snidero, Rufus Reid, Denise Tryon, John LaBarbera, The Four Freshman, and Wayne Newton.
In his spare time, Dr. Fafalios likes to fish, study history, and cook. He enjoys being at home together with his fiancé, Alice, and their Standard Poodle, Apostolaki.
