Sean studied trumpet at Birmingham Conservatoire under Alan Thomas (CBSO, BBC Concert), holding the position of principal trumpet with the college Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia, Brass Ensemble, and Wind Orchestra throughout his undergraduate study and graduated in 2011. After winning a scholarship for postgraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music under Rhys Owens (Royal Liverpool Philharmonic) and Gareth Small (Hallé) Sean gained a PGDip(solo) in 2013 after holding the position of principal trumpet with the Chamber Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Brass Ensemble and featuring as a soloist with the RNCM brass band. As a professional musician, Sean has extensive TV and radio credits including live performances on BBC London, numerous appearances on the Free Radio Birmingham Breakfast Show, Sky Sports, and BT Sports, as well as recorded performances on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, E4’s Don’t Tell the Bride, ITV, Radio Nottingham, HKG FM (Japan) and WRUV 90.1 (USA), even performing for Pope Benedict live on BBC1. Regular work includes performing residencies in central London and regular appearances with the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Sean now combines extensive work as a freelance musician with a busy teaching schedule around the Midlands; from a teacher of trumpet and ensemble director at Nottingham High School to a specialist visiting lecturer at Birmingham Conservatoire.
