Riley Giampaolo joined the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in the Fall of 2016. Prior to joining the ISO, Giampaolo studied at the New England Conservatory with James Markey. While in school Giampaolo spent two summers with the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
Giampaolo made his Boston Symphony Orchestra debut with Andris Nelsons in 2017, performing and recording Strauss’ An Alpine Symphony. Additionally, he was also named the winner of the International Trombone Association’s George Roberts Bass Trombone Solo Competition in 2013.
“I’ve always loved how easy it is to make a beautiful sound on my Edwards, I never have to worry about the sound getting too bright on the loud end or losing its color on the soft end. It just blows freely and sounds great. I also think it blends wonderfully in the orchestra, making the job much easier.”
