Paden Sharp is the Bass Trombonist of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra in Turku, Finland. He began his work with the orchestra in the Autumn season of 2022. An Arkansas native, he holds degrees from the University of Central Arkansas (BM – Performance, 2019) and the Hochschule der Künste Bern (MA – Performance, 2021). During the 2021-2022 academic year, Sharp was the Adjunct Low Brass Instructor at Bryant High School and Greenbrier Junior High School and amassed a reputable group of students in Central Arkansas.
During his collegiate career, Sharp was the winner of several solo competitions, including the Big 12 Trombone Conference (Tenor, 2019; Bass, 2022), the American Trombone Workshop (Tenor Division II, 2019), and the Music Teachers’ National Association (Senior Brass National Winner, 2016). Recently, he has had the pleasure of performing with the Fountain City Brass Band at the 2022 and 2023 North American Brass Band Championships, where they placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the Championship Division. Sharp’s teachers include Ian Bousfield, Rex Martin, Dr. Justin Cook, and Todd Johnson.
