Miguel García is a Mexican trombonist recognized for his focused sound, technical precision, and versatility across orchestral, chamber, and contemporary music. Born in Mérida, Yucatán, he began his musical training under Benjamin Cohn and later continued his development with James Neal Meador, forming the core principles of his tone production and musical approach.
He currently serves as Co-Principal Trombone of the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra, where he is known for his centered resonance, consistent articulation, and adaptability to both lyrical phrasing and high-demand orchestral repertoire. Mike holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from the University of the Arts of Yucatán and a Master of Musical Arts completed under the guidance of Sérgio Simões.
His artistic growth has been shaped by extensive participation in masterclasses and advanced training with internationally recognized brass performers from the United States, Latin America, and Europe. These experiences strengthened his understanding of airflow efficiency, equipment balance, projection, and stylistic versatility.
Alongside his orchestral career, Mike performs regularly with Sequenza Sur, a contemporary ensemble dedicated to new music, and collaborates with opera singers, chamber musicians, and artists from popular and alternative genres. As an educator, he teaches trombone and music theory at the University of the Arts of Yucatán and Universidad Modelo.
Recipient of First Place in the 2021 Remote Orchestra Audition Trial (INBAL), Mike continues to refine his sound and performance capabilities. He seeks equipment that provides resonance, stability, and tonal flexibility—qualities essential to meeting the artistic and technical demands of his work.
