Mr. Laehoon Jeong is a Korean bass trombonist who first encountered music when he joined the wind orchestra in his high school. He has been captured by the sound of the trombone ever since. While he began studying music later than others, his passion and enthusiasm for trombone led him to graduate with the top honors in the entire Music Department at Dankook University where he completed the Accademia di Roma diploma.
His keen insight and interpretation of music were soon recognized as he soon became a formal member of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, the Universal Brass Ensemble, and the Wool Trombone Ensemble. Laehoon and his team have distinguished themselves by winning first prize in the Ensemble Category at the Four of a Kind Trombone Festival.
Laehoon is recognized by his signature deep tone. He has been invited to perform with various orchestras, including Korean Broadcasting System Orchestra, Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra, and Euro-Asian Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performs regularly as a soloist.
He is a founding member of the Virtuoso Trombone Ensemble, a group that performed for the 10th anniversary of the Seoul Arts Center. The ensemble is the first trombone group to be invited to perform at the Korean Broadcasting System Music Hall. They were also the first trombone quartet to record an album in Korea. The Virtuoso Trombone Ensemble has been selected by the Seoul Foundation for Cultural Affairs and the Korean Culture and Arts Committee and selected by the Korea Mecenat Association’s Arts Friends project, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Culture Day, and is actively engaged in domestic and international activities such as annual concerts and visiting music concerts.
Regarded as the owner of a delicate and clear tone, Jeong served as a lecturer at Gachon University and is currently attending Dankook University, his alma mater, to spare no effort in fostering post-secondary students.
