Karo Harutyunyan

Solo Trombonist, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra

Starting in 2001, Karo Harutyunyan began his first steps in his career when he realized his dream was to be a professional trombonist. He studied at Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan to ensure he received a proper education for his future career.

Karo was accepted to The State Television and Radio Orchestra of Armenia as a full-time employee in 2007. In 2009, he received an offer to work at the Yerevan Jazz Band, simply called Big Band. In 2011, he started working at The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.

In 2019, Karo decided to continue his education at the Hochschule for Music in Freiburg. This was a new fresh path in his life. Although it seemed difficult to study and work simultaneously, he accepted the challenge and worked at Mainfranken Theater Würzburg as a solo trombonist from 2019 to 2020. His time in Freiburg helped him to gain not only new skills and professionalism but also allowed him to gain great friends and colleagues.

Karo has since returned to his native Armenia and is currently the solo trombonist in the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra.

“The T396-A is the best-balanced trombone I have ever performed. It plays freely in all the registers with a big warm sound. It never loses focus. This instrument blends beautifully with my orchestra while being flexible to allow me to develop my career as a soloist.”
