Josh Morris is a jazz and contemporary trumpet player and composer from Maryland whose work blends modern improvisation with a strong melodic voice. He leads Ambient Project, an award-winning duo exploring contemporary jazz textures and free improvisation. He is a junior at the Peabody Institute under Grammy-winner Sean Jones.
Morris previously performed with the University of North Texas Two O’Clock Lab Band under the mentorship of Philip Dizack. He also appeared with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, playing alongside the late Tom Williams. His performance history includes JEN, the MidAtlantic Jazz Festival, and Keystone Korner, alongside collaborations with Miguel Zenón, Randy Brecker, George Cables, and Jon Faddis.
His album, Duets Vol. 1, has been awarded a silver medal by the International Trumpet Guild Recording Awards. The guild panel of internationally renowned judges praised Morris for his “sound, control, and facility of horn playing.”
