Jazz Trombonist & Composer

Talent, dedication to the music, formal training and the opportunity to perform with and learn from one of the all-time jazz greats and master of improvisation; have all contributed to the status of Clifton Anderson as one of the top trombonists performing in jazz today.

Clifton joined the Sonny Rollins group in 1983 and continues today to be a featured soloist with him. His performance experiences include most of the major concert halls and music venues of the world.

As a leader, Clifton produced his debut CD Landmarks on the Milestone label in 1997. His performance and compositions received critical acclaim and contributed to his growing following among jazz fans and trombone aficionados worldwide. Since the release of Landmarks, Clifton has led his own groups here in the U.S. and abroad.

In addition to performing, Clifton founded “Change the World Productions” in 1987. He has also conducted trombone clinics, workshops and private instruction in academia. He considers these interactions with student musicians among the many rewards of his profession.
