Chung Sheng Chen

Second Trombonist, Taiwan Philharmonic

Chung Sheng Chen was born in Taipei in 1964. He began his trombone studies at the age of 16 with Professor Kung Yu LIN. During high school, he won the first prized in competitions in Taiwan and Taipei. He earned a Bachelor of Music from the National Institute of the Arts in 1988, During this time, he studied with the great trombone masters such as Professor T. Meservage, D. Stuart, J. Clayden, G. Sandor, and J. Van Deursen. Starting in 1990, Chen went to Paris to study with J. Toulon (Soloist of L’Orchestra de Paris), G. Milliere (professor of Paris CNSM), and R.K. Starzynski (Soloist of The Opera Paris). He won First Prix from C.N.R Boulongner in 1992. Chung Sheng Chen joined the National Symphony Orchestra in 1997.
