César Fumero was born in San José, Costa Rica in January 1988. He began his music studies at the Conservatorio de Castella, a school that develops the creative potential in its students in every area of the performing arts. After graduating, he continued earned a Bachelor of Music in Bass Trombone Performance at the University of Costa Rica and a Master’s Degree in Bass Trombone Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music. While in Cleveland, he studied with Massimo La Rosa and Randy Hawes.
César was appointed Principal Trombonist of the National Band of San José in 2014. He later joined the National Band of Alajuela as Principal Trombonist.
César has participated in several musical productions, two of which have garnered Latin Grammy nominations: Bolero by Son de Tikizia and Acércate, a collaboration between Son de Tikizia with Tamela Hedstrom. Currently, César is the bass trombonist in the National Symphony of Costa Rica and is the newest member of Trombones de Costa Rica.
