Ward Stare
Principal Trombonist, Lyric Opera of Chicago
Ward Stare, a native of Rochester, New York, received early
musical training through the Eastman School of Music's Community
Education Division, studying trombone with George Osborn. He
then went on to study for two years with Joseph Alessi at The
Juilliard School. Ward has also studied with John Marcellus and
Richard Stout.
As an orchestral musician, Ward has performed with the National
Repertory Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic, the New York
Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As
a soloist, he has given performances in Manhattan, Rochester,
Utrecht--The Netherlands, and Chicago. Ward is currently Principal
Trombonist with the Lyric
Opera of Chicago, a position he has held since February of
2001.
