This is the latest clip from Dave Taylor and Daniel Schnyder’s Art of the Duo DVD. This track is called Around the World, Part III. Dave never ceases to amaze us with his playing. Schnyder is no slouch either!
I talked to Dave Taylor on the phone yesterday about a number of things — web updates, YouTube, music, family — but the thing that stuck with me was this: he doesn’t think he made it as a bass trombonist because of talent. He attributes his success to hours and hours in the practice room. I dig that approach. Everyone knows Dave Taylor has plenty of talent, but his drive is what made him one of the best to ever play the horn.
This video once again features Dave and Daniel Schnyder in the studio, this time playing Duo Contertante from The Art of the Duo.
The following videos are of Dave Taylor and Daniel Schnyder performing Trio as Duo from the Art of the Duo DVD. Taylor has this to say about working with Schnyder:
“The reason we’ve loved performing together for the last 10-15 years is because we play with a real chamber music feeling. We treat it like a children’s playground and put a groove on it.”
The first video was recorded in the studio, the second at the Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York on December 9, 2009.
We have received request upon request for our Axial Flow (Thayer) valves. We are now pleased to offer valve conversion kits that will allow you to modify your existing Bach, Conn, or other trombone of choice with an Edwards valve system. We are too busy building horns to do the conversions ourselves, but we will be happy to refer you to a competent repair tech that can do the work.
